Gary Illyes from the Google Webmaster Trends Analyst team announced that the Google Search Console, formerly known as Google Webmaster Tools, will start sending their notifications to less people for the average notification type. The change will come into play in about three-weeks and will only impact the average type of notification, it won’t change how Google notifies webmasters of more critical messages such as a site being hacked.
Google will now only notify the direct owner of the site in question, not the property owner. For example, if a site such as http://ift.tt/1TzI764 triggers a message within the Google Search Console, Google would notify any owners under the sites:
http://ift.tt/1TzI764 (the site triggering the message)
http://ift.tt/1L5wDpx
http://ift.tt/1TzI766
http://ift.tt/1L5wBOn
http://ift.tt/1L5wBOp
https://example.com
Now, only the owner of http://ift.tt/1TzI764 will receive the notification in the Google Search Console.
Gary Illyes added that this only will impact normal notifications, not the critical messages, such as a hacked site alerts, which will still likely go to all parent site owners.
Again, this will go live in the next few weeks according to Google.
