Call for entries: the 2016 Search Engine Land Awards

smx-landys-214

We are thrilled to announce the official opening of the 2nd annual Search Engine Land Awards (aka “The Landy Awards”) with today’s call for entries. For 2016, there are 20 awards categories designated to honor best-in-class search marketing campaigns, individuals, in-house marketers and agency teams.

What’s new for the 2016 Search Engine Land Awards?

Due to the overwhelming response in 2015, we have added a number of additional categories to ensure entrants have the best chance of being recognized as a finalist (and ultimately, winner) for their impressive efforts in search marketing.

Namely, the Enterprise SEM category received so many phenomenal entries that this year, we will be selecting an overall winner, along with additional recognition for B2B- and B2C-focused entries, respectively.

In addition, the Retail, Mobile and Local categories now have distinctions between SEO and SEM efforts, rather than being combined and evaluated together.

The biggest development is four new awards for organizational teams:

  • IN-HOUSE TEAM OF THE YEAR — SEM
  • IN-HOUSE TEAM OF THE YEAR — SEO
  • AGENCY OF THE YEAR — SEM
  • AGENCY OF THE YEAR — SEO

The individual Search Marketer of the Year awards will be presented by last year’s winners, Stacy Williams (Nebo Agency) and Larry Kim (WordStream), who will also participate in the judging process, alongside other industry luminaries.

See the complete list of categories and entry criteria or FAQ for additional information.

The 2nd annual Landy Awards Gala

After the resounding success of the inaugural event, we are elevating this year’s awards celebration and will be rolling out the red carpet at the elegant Edison Ballroom on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Originally opened in the 1930s as the Grand Ballroom of the adjacent Edison Hotel, this historical venue combines modern amenities with its original Art Deco flair in the heart of Times Square and the Broadway theater district of New York City.

In addition to the main event of the Landy Awards Ceremony, the evening cocktail party will feature flowing libations, passed hors d’ouevres and gourmet food stations, entertainment and dancing. Plan to celebrate with search marketing industry peers and colleagues in style!

Stay tuned for more information about event details, including how to buy tickets to the awards celebration. (Tickets will be available to purchase in conjunction with passes to our Search Marketing Expo conference happening in NYC the same week.)

The “Power of Search” is tangible

Beyond the recognition of success in organic search marketing and paid search advertising by consultants, in-house teams and agencies, the Landy Awards program includes a special award for industry marketers who commit their time and/or expertise for the benefit of a charitable cause.

Best of all, there’s an even bigger reason to celebrate the Power of Search with us…

Proceeds from the inaugural Landy Awards program and After Dark celebration event resulted in a $15,000 donation split between the selected charities, BeTheMatch.org and CODE.org. That also means a grand total of more than $75,000 has been raised at SMX After Dark events in the last decade, thanks to the generosity of the search marketing industry.

Third Door Media, publisher of Search Engine Land and producer of the SMX conference series, guarantees a minimum of $5,000 to be donated to a non-profit organization, from a portion of the entry fees and awards gala tickets sold in 2016.

Get started on your 2016 Landy Awards entry today

The early bird entry fee ($250 USD) deadline is June 15, 2016, at 11:59 p.m. PT. After that, all entries will be assessed a $50 late fee until the submission period closes on June 30, 2016, at 11:59 p.m. PT.

The editorial team at Search Engine Land designed the Landy Awards program to measure meaningful results and reward best practices in search marketing — we’re looking for the best of the best in SEO and SEM.

Depending on the category you select, the submission process will ask for specific metrics and campaign details, along with supporting charts and data, so you will want ample time for client or executive approval, if necessary. (Required information is for judging purposes only; no data will be shared publicly without entrant constent.)

Your application should clearly demonstrate how you and/or your team achieved quantifiable results in an SEO and/or SEM initiative. You may work on the application process in stages and submit for final review once you’ve completed all the entry requirements.
